Alabama winning the Rose Bowl back in the 1920's.

The correct answer is the 1992 SECCG, Bama 28, UF 21.
Really no question about it.

The first SEC Championship game changed college football, and for the better. Every other conference with enough members has followed suit with a conference championship game.
Jan 9 was also big but let's not talk about that.

On a standpoint of anticipation, the first ever SEC title game between Alabama and Florida has to be it. I was too young to remember, but the build up to that game had to be massive. Can you imagine with todays TV market if that game had been any time in the past 5 or so years? It would have been even bigger had Florida won, because Alabama would have never played Miami in the Sugar Bowl and Alabama/SEC is denied a national title. Roy Kramer would have been lynched.
