Dear Student,

Coach Barbee and the men’s basketball team are now 2-0 in SEC play with recent victories over LSU and South Carolina and will return home on Jan. 19 at 8pm to host defending National Champion Kentucky on ESPNU for an “ORANGE OUT”. The game is expected to be a sellout and the best way to secure your seat in the student section is by joining The Jungle!

HOW TO JOIN THE JUNGLE
The Jungle is the Official Student Section of Auburn Basketball, presented by Momma Goldberg’s Deli, and becoming a member is quick and easy. Membership is just $10 and benefits include a free Jungle T-shirt, early entry into games, discounts at Momma G’s and much more! To find out more about The Jungle or to sign-up today, visit us online at www.aujungle.com. You can also join using cash this week at any of the T-shirt pick-up locations and times listed below.

T-SHIRT PICK-UP
Jungle members are allowed to enter the arena 15 minutes early at any men’s basketball game by wearing their Jungle T-shirt. In order for new members to take advantage of the early entry for the Kentucky game, T-shirts will be available for pick-up starting tomorrow, Jan. 15th. Below is a listing of the times and locations for pick-up. You must show your Auburn Ignited card at the time of pick-up. You can also pick up your shirt at the game beginning at 6:30pm, if you prefer.

• Athletics Marketing Office – Athletics Complex at the corner of Samford and Donahue
Jan. 15-16 (Tue & Wed)
9am to 5pm

• Auburn Arena Student Lobby – Lower Lobby
Jan. 17 (Thu) at Auburn vs. Tennessee women’s basketball game
6:30pm through end of halftime (tipoff at 8pm)

• Student Center Concourse
Jan. 18 (Fri) from 9am to 3pm (weather permitting)

STUDENT ENTRY POLICY CHANGE
A change was made last week to the student entry policy that affects all remaining home games. Under the new policy, the first 1,500 students through the door with a valid Auburn Ignited card will be admitted for free. Once the student section is full, students will be admitted into the arena for free based on the availability of unsold reserved seats or standing room only areas until max arena capacity is reached. The revised entry policy can be found here.

So now students are allowed to seat at unsold/unreserved chairs in the arena.

I guess "The Jungle" is alright

"The Jungle" sounds like a knock-off of "The Swamp"

Definite result of the LSU game. Great news though.

Considering we overcrowd the student section but a good half the students come only because it is free and it is embarrassing to have 3/4s of our alumni seats empty, it is about time this change was made.

Yeah, it lasted about as long as Terry Bowden is tall. Not very long.

I like the Jungle a lot better than Lebo's Lunatics. I loved the Cliff Dwellers but we obviously can't go back to that. The Jungle already has some association with Auburn and it's not coach dependent. Maybe with this policy change and some exposure we can build it into something that'll be synonymous with AU round ball.

I hope students take this seriously. It'd be awesome to hit max capacity without selling a single ticket. The AD would hate it, but it'd be a sure sign of Barbee changing the culture.

The students have embraced it and you really started to see the change last year. They are arriving early and the activity and participation is beginning to spread albeit very slowly. Many don't understand basketball culture/ think it's "not cool" to jump up and down and be a presence for their team.

But the first huge step was just getting students to pack it out consistently.. that mission is accomplished.

I remember going to a game last year and people were just standing there not even sure when to cheer. It was embarrassing. Some spirit person or something tried to lead a cheer and kids had no idea what was going on.

My friend who went to a pretty big bball HS in FL go on the sideline/court yelled at Aubie to come over and started leading the rollercoaster cheer and other classics. The AD sent a guy over and tried to "hire" (for an unpaid job) him to pump up the crowd at basketball games. He said no though

Basketball games are NF bruh. Get with the program.

And as far as the cheers go, I'm more of a heckle specific players and coaches on the other team kind of guy than a participate in coordinated stuff. Which is why I stay out of the middle of the student section that is already entirely too packed as it is. Which is why this new policy is a great thing. It's shitty seeing students without space to stand when the rest of the arena is nearly completely empty.
