Anthony Peeler's 43 point game in Lawrence

Posted over on TB but I am so bedazzled by the trip down memory lane I felt like posting it here. I remember it well but had not ever seen all his points edited together like this, just a disgustingly epic outing for one player...it really was impossible not to become hopelessly addicted to Mizzou hoops growing up in CoMo in the 1980s and 90s with Peeler, Doug Smith, Cheivous, Booker etc putting on shows like this all the time...

What was the name of that white insanely hyperactive defensive player on Mizzou's bball team in the early 90s?

I remember this game like it was yesterday.
19 in 8 mins., if he did that today he'd be all over ESPN, POY, etc.
Such a shame that Norm shite the bed in the tourney so much.

Thanks ATX. That is the first time I have seen him in black n gold. I missed the Peeler era due to living overseas while in the military. Seen him in HS as a soph & jr.
What a beast.

Wow, too bad. You missed out on the best player I've seen at Missouri.
Granted, I was young, but he stands the test of time.

By Norm era standards, Peeler's teams were actually somewhat adequately decent in the Big Dance, as AP compiled a 3-3 record there. Not great by any means but compared to, say, Derrick Cheivous who went a whopping 0-4 in postseason play, it looks pretty good. And the hottest team Peeler was ever on at the end of a season, his junior year, was inelgible for the Big Dance due to probation, but it was on a 6 game win streak and won the Big Eight Tourney over three Top 15 ranked teams at the time...fairly safe to assume he and Doug Smith were on track to make a solid NCAA tourney run that year as well if they'd been allowed to...then again with Norm and Mizzou who knows, some punch to the gut from Northeast Bumblefrick Tech was always a possibility at any moment.

ATX,
I was waiting for you at Home Slice Pizza last weekend. Why didn't you show up?

Northern Iowa was a real bummer. I think AP was a Sophomore.

Holy Crizzap wait whaaaa? Sorry Sensei! Ironically enough I was back up in Dallas on the last stop on my journey home from Missouri. What brought you to town? Love me some Home Slice, that place is the balls. I go there pretty frequently.

Visiting extended family for the holidays.
They're Mizzou fans, but can't stop talking about JFF. Makes me wonder if they now like A&M more?

I'm not a fan of ATM and am jealous as frick of the blind luck they had in unearthing JFF...but when you live in Austin, ATM is definitely the lesser of two evils. And its extremely easy and fun to piss off all the Longhorn morans around here with the mere mention of JFF. So there's that...

Yeah, I definitely prefer the Aggies to bevo. No question there.
But Texas is really pretty average - and I think A&M finally has a coach that can make use of their talent. I think they're here to stay. Wish we had that - both the talent and the coach.

I lol'd at that video. Looks like a bunch of short white guys from South Dakota running, and then, hooooo.
Then, white boys flopping around. Lol.
Dude was a stud.
Always though he could've played football too, so quick.

Let's be honest...that Sutherland dunk was far sicker than any dunk in the Peeler montage simply because of how young he was, how short he was, and the fact that it was a reverse dunk on a competitor.
Amazing. I would've shite my pants had I seen that live. No lie.

I think Sutherland played some odd football league for a while.
