The one major thing Spurrier has over Saban is the innovation factor. Saban doesn't do anything special. He gets the best out of his players, they play tough defense, and control the game with the run. Tons of coaches do that, it's just that saban is the absolute best at it in the game.
With Spurrier though, he redefined what SEC football was. For decades SEC football was the type of game saban plays. Spurrier brought a 5 wide, fun n' gun that took damn near a decade for teams to figure out. And it's not like he was Leach at TT or Mumme at UK, because he actually had a defense and solid RBs to go along with it. Of course that goes along with all his tangible accomplishments on the field, but the new style he brought is why he will always be considered one of the best.
Urban Meyer would go down as one of the best if he stayed in the SEC for 10 years because he did the same thing.

I guess I'd have to say Saban too. While Saban has built his little empire on the Black Warrior, I'd have to say that Spurrier's SC teams seem to fall a tad bit short of where they should be.
