Steve Spurrier, Jr., tweeted yesterday that a record 74 underclassmen have declared. It's insane. I can see the logic for kids who are likely to go in the first round, and for running backs -- but most would be better off staying another year. Many of these players will never get drafted and never play a down of professional football. Would suck to trade your never-to-be-replaced senior year for the unemployment line.

With this being considered one of the weakest drafts in recent memory, I would assume that kids are thinking if they leave early that they could improve their draft stock. Not saying it's smart, but I think a lot of late round guys are figuring they'd stand a chance of being drafted a littler higher this year than waiting a year in a potentially stronger draft class and be drafted later.
