LSU's history and tradition >>>>>>>>> USC's history and tradition...matters for recruiting. Plus, LSU has an entire state to itself recruiting wise, compared to USC that has to contend with Clemson (traditionally a better football program).

Besides, Spurrier changed the conference. How much of the power of the SEC today is a result of the change in offense that he started?
