If you look at the percentage they held their opponents under normal rushing yards for the season their defensive numbers are slightly better than UAs.

Obviously this can be skewed based upon competition their opponents face but it is still a good starting point. I'd say defensively it is a wash. Offensively UA has better numbers.

CK is a very good coach so this may be a good game.

Notre Dames opponents averaged 158 yds per game. Notre dame held them to 92 yds. Thats a difference of -66. Alabama's opp averaged 163 yds per game. Bama gave 80 per game. A difference of -83 under their average. So no, Notre Dame did not do a better job of holding their opponents under their average.
