LSU took advantage in 2007 of other teams losing to move into position to play for the NC, just like every other team before or since that wasn't wire-to-wire #1 or #2 in the polls. Four points:

1. The LSU "backing into" the 2007 NC bullshite began well before the "Mulligan Bowl";

2. As SEC champs and most deserving 2-loss team in 2007, LSU didn't "back into" anything;

3. While I wouldn't call it "backing in", Bama did not deserve a Mulligan in 2011 in lieu of conference champ OSU who had a better overall resume';

4. As SEC champs with 1 loss to a very good A&M team, Bama does deserve a NC shot this year.
