I know if murray had bennett and brown to throw the ball to. Their is no doubt in my mind that we would of beaten the gumps. that's just to many weapons for anybody. Thats the story of our history...A key injury and a tipped pass short of glory

"I thought we were gonna spike the Ball"!!!
Like every other team in the world would do except the dawgs.
Bad call.
"Out" and out of the NC.

the playcall was fine, we had a man in the corner. A DL tipping the pass =/= a bad call. Even if we had spiked it with 10 seconds left, the play would have still resulted in the clock running out. It was a great strategy because we had bama on their heels and we were going for the win, and the play was there.

They ran the play prematurely and were not set. That is the reason for the "great" play tipping the ball.

dafuq? If we weren't set there would be a penalty flag thrown. We were set. A DL getting his hand in the throwing lane has nothing to do with whether we were set or not.

WG stop acting like you don't know what I'm saying... They were running around trying to set up the play. They didn't know who was blocking who. It was a bad call for the way this team is coached.. they aren't good at improv. It was the coaches fault for assuming Gurley knew who he supposed to block cause he had no idea who he had to account for. He let Mosley jump from 10 yards away to block him. He didn't even block him. Alabama was much more ready for the play than GA was... period. Ga was on their heels not vice versus.
BAD CALL

Not a bad call. The reasoning is to keep the defense from bringing in new players, and also to catch defense off guard. What was bad was the play call. None of the routes went towards the endzone. That back shoulder fade they ran is a gamble.

Not spiking the ball was a gamble but I do not think the play call was. I would think most defenses would expect the fade or even a quick slant over the middle.. Jmho

quote:Have you never seen AM throw the fade?!?!?!?! That is the one throw he does that works 90% of the time when the ball isn't tipped at the line. It was not a bad play call, we didn't give Bama time to set up or get any calls from their coaches. Had we spiked it, their coaches could've told them to look out for that route.

Aaron looks very, very poised in that vid. I´m used to seeing him stammer slightly, and fill with ums and uhs.
It seems some pressure came off him, with this loss causing play call absolutely not being attributable to him.
Fine young man.

quote:+1. With MM running that route, their is little doubt in my mind we wouldn't have scored on that play. And the linemen knew who they were blocking, they always do in a hurry up situation, the rules usually stay the same for the line in a hurry up so they don't get confused, trust me.

Yeah, Murray gained my respect after this game, he played his heart out and didn't choke under pressure, and he protected the ball pretty well. Just came up 5 yards short to the best team in the nation

Do what? Nah yer right they weren't "looking for that route" at all...they knew the EXACT play we were gonna run...good lord, how could they covered Mitchell any better? He had NO WHERE to go...did you even watch the replay. So we had Bama on their " heels" huh? Is that why all the Bama players were set in place in lined up in exactly the right place for that play.?Wow, I betcha they'd love to be on their heels like that vs ND.

No. The call was a low probability call. Evidenced by the fact it did not work.
Every OC in the NFL would have spiked the ball so we could have run 2 plays but we do not have that problem. We have an OC who should be coaching a high school team in south GA.

Murray would've put the ball where only Malcolm could've gotten it, have you never seen a back shoulder throw before? You have the defender running with you till the last second when it's either a jump ball or the WR stops and gets it on his back shoulder. Even if it was incomplete, we still have time for one play, maybe 2 if we hurry but Bama got a hand on it and Conely made a instinct play and caught it instead of batting it down or letting it fall.
