The 1938 and 1939 Tennessee Volunteers

1938

1939

Gave up a total of 30 points in two years. 14 of which were in the '39 Rose Bowl.

Held opponents scoreless for 15 games in a row.

Untouchable.

I think if UF had not lost to Ole Miss in 2008, this is an easier question. Scored 611 points, gave up only 181. Beat 6 straight SEC teams by 28 points or more, schedule included 10 or 11 teams that made bowl games and beat the #1 team in the country in consecutive games. That team was loaded on both sides of the ball, still can't believe they lost to Ole Miss.

If we are talking about greatest SEC teams relative to their time then I can accept some of these posters talking about teams from the last century.

If we are simply talking about best SEC team ever, it has to come from the last decade. There is no way teams from 20 years ago or more could beat the teams of today. My vote is last years Alabama team.

Don't leave out 1940. They again went undefeated in the regular season, giving up 26 points in 10 games.
