Agreed except they lost to Tommy Trojan and Notre Dame jr and those sins may be too great to be forgiven.

Keep in mind that Neyland didn't show up for bowl games and most of the team didn't either. Bowl games didn't have much weight back then.

I thought they lost their three time All-American running back to a knee injury just before the Rose Bowl in '39?
