Pretty much this. If you have the players, any old system will work. Georgia Tech would be unstoppable with Bama's O-line and RB's. A&M is nearly unstoppable (although they have been stopped) with a Heisman QB and an NFL O-line.
It all depends on your philosophy and what you know and what you believe high caliber players would like to play in.

2013 update.
3/4 of new SEC hires running the spread, with Arky bringing in an OC with spread experience.
That makes 7/14 SEC schools running the spread. Nostradamusthorpe will be watching this thread.
