He doesn't "regularly" call out customer and the biggest issue is that people need to learn that if you have a difference of opinion or a complaint posting it in a public forum is not the proper course of action.

I will tell you what next time you and I have a disagreement I will come to your office and start yelling and screaming about it ... is that appropriate? No.

Differences of opinion, complaints, or supposed corrections in articles (which I don't remember the discussion you reference so I don't know who was right or wrong) should be communicated through PM or email, they have been very clear and consistent on that. Anyone who chooses to do otherwise is just wanting attention.

As far as his mother working for him, she was also hired by Brandon Jones so obviously he feels she is qualified ... it is called being a small business, that's what people do, it isn't that rare.

None of that makes him a tool.

I can see where some come from when they say that he is 'hypersensitive' or that they all take themselves too seriously, I get that, but you are looking at it as someone posting on a forum. Not as a business owner.

I completely agree with TexAgs sometimes just pulling the company line, I have complained about that before. At the same time, they have the most access to the program, they have the VP of Marketing as a regular poster, they have TAMU Compliance as a regular poster, they have a strong relationship with the 12th Man Foundation and the Association, do you think they would get any of that if they constantly questioned the university's decisions and didn't "tow the company line" it is a trade off. If you recognize it for what it is I don't see why it should a) come as a surprise or b) be an issue.

Again. I disagree with a lot of the stuff Looch and Co say, I also disagree with a lot of the Looch cultists .... BUT ... they have the best access and the best content and the biggest issues with the site is 90% of the time the posters, not the people running it in my opinion.

Even if your analogy had merit (which it doesn't because you wouldn't have access to my office no matter what your supposed reason was), if some idiot came into my office yelling and screaming about something they disagreed with me about, I would likely just shut the door and move on to something else.

Luicci's problem is multi-faceted:

1. He allows arguments to escalate instead of just ending the argument, locking the thread, etc. At that point, if the poster continues to push the issue, THEN you ban the user.

2. He cannot make an effective argument without making it personal. In the very thread I was banned in (6? months ago), I even pointed out how he could have simply stated his point and let the thread die, but he just could not STAND not getting the last word. I gave him every opportunity to prove me wrong and he did exactly what I told him he would.

3. He doesn't accept or implement constructive criticism or feedback. Already been covered. Even just saying, "That looks/sounds feasible, but is not something we can do at this time" is an acknowledgement of feedback.

I think this sums it up pretty well. Is Looch sensitive? Sure he is, but that sensitivity is good business for him in the end as well. If you look at his paying customers and especially the long time ones and Varsity posters that really foot the bill they are generally older and less into the drama and arguing. They just want good information and generally positive discussion or at least respectful discussion.

It seems like most of the time I have seen people banned there is when they directly attack the staff, especially saying something about OTHER sites doing x or y better than Looch even if those points have merit. He isn't going to allow for people to use his site to advertise or advocate his competition for right or wrong and that's probably a smart business move considering he is so much bigger than his competition. Personal attacks also get you booted in a hurry. Somehow I have managed to be on Texags since '97 and have never had a ban of any kind or even a note from the staff to chill out. It doesn't take much in the way of common sense to realize arguing with the owners or mods of a site is a losing proposition, it would be stupid to do the same with Chicken here though he has different standards than Looch though each has their own sensitive points. It's their site, they can run it how they want. If you don't like it go elsewhere or make your own.

Say what you will but his business model works. He has incredible content and inside information on AD and school related issues. He also has built up the non Football related forums into strong and dedicated groups as well with excellent discussion for the most part (some more than others). He caters to the more casual Ag and older Ag far better than the other sites do. Honestly I think he gave up on trying to be the first to the punch on recruiting with the most info a long time ago. His info is almost always reliable but just not as comprehensive in that area nor as fast and it really doesn't hurt him except with a very small group that is truly recruiting obsessed (of course many of them still subscribe to TA anyway outside of a few anti TA'ers).

I just don't get the Texags hate. It is what it is, if you want to have harsher discussions on public forums there are no lack of other sites to go to.
