I work with some TU grads and they are just as obsessed with a&m. But they try to be cool and pretend they are above it, which makes them look like douche bags.

Texas was the team it was cool to like, ESPN/Media have been pushing the Longhorns for years. The Aggies have take have taken a big step out of their shadow this year, and I think they would destroy TU in a bowl game, which would be great to watch.

I'm sure you are correct but I haven't seen that obsession nearly as much. EVERY Aggie I know obsesses with UT. Most UT fans I know enjoy when the Aggies lose and cheers for them to lose but doesn't seem obsessed with A&M.

Most UT fans seem to have something on the back of their vehicle supporting UT. Most A&M fans seem to as well. But the % of A&M fans that additionally have something anti-UT on the back of their vehicles as well is amazing (upside down UT logo, UT logo with horns sawed off, etc).

Now don't get me wrong. Aggies are in the SEC and I want the Aggies to beat every non-conference foe they face to make the SEC appear as strong as possible relative to other conferences. I do the same for all other SEC schools. I would cheer for A&M to beat UT in a Cotton Bowl match up and regret it for the SEC if they lost. But only because A&M is in the SEC and UT is not.

I just wish Aggies would stop identifying themselves in terms of being anti-UT and only as an independent school and proud member of the SEC without ties to their former rival. To do otherwise makes them appear to everyone outside of A&M the same way Louisiana Lafayette or Tulane or Louisana Tech do whenever those schools obsess about LSU.
