Update on Joejuan Williams, Mecole Hardman and Elijah Holyfield
quote:
Rivals100 defensive back JoeJuan Williams said two schools are pushing to the front for his services, Tennessee and Ohio State. The Nashville native said the Vols have made him a priority and are working hard to make sure he stays in state. Williams is planning a visit to campus in Knoxville next weekend and said plenty of his friends from the Class of 2015 are already working to get him on to join them on Rocky Top down the road.
Meanwhile, Williams said the reigning national champs are also showing him plenty of love and are also pitching the opportunity to come in and play early in his career. Williams said he's not planning a decision anytime soon and is also planning plenty of visits in the coming months.
Tennessee continues to hold the lead position for Rivals250 athlete Mecole Hardman, with Georgia and Clemson also working to close the gap on the Vols. Like Williams, Hardman said he will likely be on campus for the school's junior day this weekend and he said he's looking forward to spending time with some of Class of 2015 Vols early enrollees. Tennessee is recruiting Hardman to play offense, while Georgia continues to sell Hardman on the possibility of playing defense. He said he's deciding on which side of the ball he would prefer to play, but wouldn't rule out a school based solely on which position it projects him to in college.
Rivals250 running back Elijah Holyfield said four schools -- Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Michigan -- are standing out above all others at this point in his recruitment. The Vols, behind a big effort from running backs coach Robert Gillespie, are making a hard charge to land Holyfield. He's expected to visit the Vols next weekend and said he's looking forward to getting a closer look at the Knoxville campus. Auburn has also made Holyfield a priority and Holyfield said he's in touch with someone from the Tigers staff on an almost daily basis. Heading into the spring Holyfield said he still plans to take several visits before narrowing his list for good, but did say his four favorites have a leg up on the competition for now.
