Just read an interview with Yost on Mizzous offense and where he needs to go with it being Franklin is still out and the line is still suspect.
Basically he has expressed that they need to execute plays. Not any one player but all. He also has expressed he needs to do a better job of play calling.
He also commented that he needs to gameplan differently with Berk than he did with Franklin. Finally! He's going to change things up! Finally, he's figured out Berk is not Franklin!
Anyways, here's a link to the article.LINK

He says the right things but will he do it?!?!?

Jafo we can only hope, because clearly our original gameplan was an abject failure. Time to try something new yost

I am qualitatively optimistic

We've been making subtle adjustments to the offense every week. The bye week gave them a chance to really work on getting this thing fixed.

Hope you're right UR....Seems to me we've heard this "coach speak" a lot before....Gotta execute better....Gotta play call better....But while there might be minor adjustments, we still run back to back wildcats. I know you can only tweak, not overhaul, the offense while in season, but the play calling has got to get better.

No, no second chances. The stupidity Yost has shown all year to me would mean even if we beat every team we play for the rest of the year 80 to nothing I would still want him fired.
He's not a smart guy.
SC gave us man coverage all game, the best situation we could hope for and yet he wasn't passing the ball.
If franklin couldn't throw them get him out. No excuse.
Commentators were calling it out and as commentators attempt to be pretty straight forward whenever they are pointing out how dumb the stuff you are doing is you know you're in a bad place.

I think at the beginning of the season, we all kind of knew that one of two things would happen. Either the SEC defenses would have to adjust to our offense or our offense would have to adjust to thier defenses. Most of us thought that it would be them adjusting. I give them credit, they handled our offense well forcing Yost to try to adjust. Whether it be because of injury or lack of "the right players", we need a different approach. This article with Yost confirms to me, he's finally understanding the limitations and strengths of the players thats available to him. To gameplan around them instead of trying to fit them into his scheme.
It's really a matter of trial and error on what cracks these defenses. I think we've been watching this experament all season. Some things worked some things did'nt. It's a matter of taking what has worked and scheming off those success's.

Good bye Yost. We could do better. Wish we still had Christiansen.

I don't know. The article I read on STL today basically said that until everyone is executing and they are still failing he will not be changing the approach.
What I took from these recent interviews is they are not satisfied with execution, not necessary the play calling approach.

Mogray, did you read the article from the link in my OP?
***One quote from Yost...He added: "We have to stop the Mizzou beating Mizzou part of it … And I've got to do a better job calling plays, so you don't sit there and say at the end of the game that there were seven times when the scheme wasn't good enough. Which (has) happened too many times this year, too.***
Yes he mentioned the execution of plays by the players but as shown above, he has also come to the realisation that he needs to improve his play calling also.
***Another comment and quote from the article...."We've had this discussion: Throwing it as you're getting hit doesn't normally result in the ball going where you want it to," Yost said.
So this week's game plan will seek to contour Berkstresser's strengths but also account for the fact he's not the ground threat Franklin can be.
"Our running game changes, too, because your secondary run threat isn't always going to be Corbin; it's going to be when we motion T.J. (Moe) or Jimmie (Hunt) in the backfield, or (having) Marcus Murphy" as a second back, Yost said.***
So what Yost is saying is he is not going to try to gameplan plays that are a strength to Franklin and try to fit Berk into the same mold. He is going to make adjustments in the scheme of the plays to help play towards Berks strengths.
But in the end, as Yost, and as you also mentioned as well as what I have been preaching is that in the end it's still up to two things. Talent, and play execution. It's up to the players to execute.
A good example was the bowl game a few years ago against Iowa I think it was. Mizzou ran the same jet sweep like three plays in a row and executed it everytime for good yards. It was successful because the players executed the plays.
