quote:
UK defensive coordinator Rick Minter called some plays tonight and thought, "Do they even know this?" of almost all-freshman secondary.
Do they know the plays? Isn't that on you as a coach and why can't they study the playbook?

I don't think it's unheard of to think that an all-freshman defensive squad is having a hard time digesting the playcalling. There's a reason at virtually every other school in the SEC those kids get redshirted. Learning on the job is no cake walk in the SEC.
I also don't think it's as bad as you're making it sound (the comment that is). Minter has routinely told it like it is all season. And I'm far less offended by that comment then I am of Joker throwing out his sugar coated "but I saw improvement" cookie cutter comments every game.

And this is part of the conversation that spawned the above quote:

quote:
A hip injury to senior starting cornerback Cartier Rice during Saturday's game at one point left the Cats with an all-freshman secondary - which left Minter feeling slightly helpless. "Every time you make a call, you just kind of look at yourself and say, 'Do we know this one well at all? And if not, what can we do?' " Minter said.

And we get this little gem from Joker Phillips:
quote:
"We'll have to regroup," Phillips said. "Everybody's involved. I told them at half, "We are all responsible for what we see.' It starts with me. I'm responsible for it. Every player, every coach, we're responsible for it."

Wow, well that's not the quote he tweeted. Now he didn't say Rick said something like this, he said Rick said "this". Probably shouldn't be doing that. The whole quote makes me feel different about it.

I think what he tweeted is probably what was said, but it should've been included with the rest of it. The context certainly makes sense if he was asked that kind of question that solicited that response.
And yeah, Matt Smith had this to say:
Kyle Tucker ?@KyleTucker_CJ
UK senior Matt Smith: "This is one of the most embarrassing games that we’ve been a part of."

Yeah, that was bad and then he dropped that gem about things starting to pile up and get to the players.

What pisses me off about that Joker quote is that despite throwing out the "it's my responsibility" shite, he's making sure he's taking everyone else down with him and pointing fingers. Players included.
Can we honestly say the players haven't done everything in their power at this point? Why even say shite like that. Why not just leave it at I'm the head coach and it's on me?

This.....all of it.
quote:
If the two cornerbacks injured tonight are out and Neloms remains out, UK would have two available corners for UGA, both true freshmen.

At this point it is a miracle if the players even know 2 plays
