Exactly, selfless causes like poverty and education are what the new testament is all about.

The prosperity "health and wealth" theology that a lot of modern evangelists push is a very recent development in the long history of Christianity. There is very little basis for it in The Bible, and in fact, it flies in the face of many of the core teachings of Jesus. Achieving wealth and success in this life is not why we are here, this is the entire point of much of the new testament. The idea that when bad things happen to you, it's because of Satan, and if you just pray harder, better things will come is pretty fricked up to me. Always has been.

Regardless of my thoughts on the theology of it, though, it's also a very narrow view of the wide scope of Chrisitianiy. I only mention that because if the Chizik's are pushing that as visibly as it appears they are ("god thing," this, etc.) I can only imagine that they are only furthering some divisions within that team and program. There is no way all the players and staff feel comfortable with this garbage, and that can only serve to cause division within the team. Besides the fact that praying about this and having the fans rally together "all in" will not fix any of the problems Auburn is facing, I just don't understand what she thinks she's doing here.

I can only imagine what that prick Finebaum is gonna do with this.
