@MikeHerndonAMG Miles, asked about Saban's complaints abt no-huddle, says holding is a much bigger safety issue than no-huddle.
quote:
@MikeHerndonAMG Miles: "If I had the magic wand on changing rules, I would call holding much more effectively."
quote:
"Hurry-up will always be an issue and the issue will be that the quarterback and the offense is ready to go before the defense, and then they snap it, and the defense isn't ready," Miles said. "There's always going to be a point in time where the defense is not necessarily using their time exactly as they should. There are going to be defenses that are not ready.

miles offense is the biggest safety issue in the game. his offense is responsible for our d getting banged up last saturday

how can that be directed towards saban or alabama? they've literally never held an opponent during his tenure.

id prefer miles to fix the offense instead of make a fool out of himself by giving interviews

Funny that he's had 5 years to bitch about the refs and he picks this week.

I hope we run no huddle that whole game.

he is clearly just concerned about safety. in fact les miles is so concerned for the safety of other players he tells our line not to block at all just so we dont take any chances of getting a holding penalty

In both cases, this is an example of high profile, powerful coaches, looking to bend the rules to their offensive and defensive philosophies.
Fact is, Saban doesnt have a good answer for the high octane no huddle offenses like Malzahn, Chad Morris and others run. his teams still win with better athletes and a good plan of their own, but to my mind, this complaining on their parts is mostly to minimize what they consider a coaching pain the arse, not necessarily a true safety issue.
Although, if one offense runs 80 plays and yours runs 50 plays or less, yeah, the boys on defense might get a bit tired. Thats the point.

he needs to let each player on D gulp down a gallon of mustard before each game so we dont look like a sniper sitting on the rim of the stadium is picking us off one by one every series

versus bitching/begging about getting a mulligan?
Or spread offenses?
dumbass reporters?
And, if you could read better, he said holding is an "issue".......not bitching about refs.
