I know the grindfest is a little over a month away but figured id post a guide now for my fellow grinders so yall have time to make plans are ask questions on what should be seen or done while in town for the grindfest.

by the time we roll into town br should be a pretty depressed place considering they will likely be 5-4 or 6-3 by the time we grind them up so I dont expect LSU fans to be doing much tigerbaiting.

in the next post ill do the grinds in new orleans and then the grinds in Baton rouge, including places to eat, drink, hotels and things to see or do while you wait for grinday.

tailgating at LSU: free lots are on the levee and the old front 9 (HBG will be on the old front 9 and all grinders are welcome to stop by and grind)

ill post a map closer to grind time.

eta: ill post my email as well when we get closer so fellow grinders can contact me if they want to meet up or need more help when they get to town.

casa hbg is open to fellow grinders as well if they dont mind crashing on the floor

Born and raised in BR.

College aged people: The parade grounds is where all the college tents are set up. I'll be between there and the fraternity houses.

I'll be bringing a solid group of grinders to engage in mullen-like activities.

I'll post my email on here later for all who want in on what is looking to be like a great weekend.

the grinding guide to new orleans

first hotels: really any hotel will be good in the quarter and warehouse district. I would of course avoid the airport ones because who wants to grind there.

harrahs for the high rolling grinders like bundy harrahs is a nice choice to stay at. HBG only gambles in harrahs when in new orleans.

historic french market inn for those grinding on a smaller budget. Its not the nicest place but its a good area and its a place to stay.

royal sonesta- hbg would stay here great location

the one hotel for sure to avoid is canal place.

HBG places to eat in nola: its hard to go wrong with any local place in nola so ill post a few but if its not a chain id suggest going to any place for a meal.

breakfast: cafe du monde, its located right by jackson square on the mississippi river. Its site seems to be down right now but its beignets are a must have but bring cash because they dont take cards. its open 24 hours so its nice for a snack after you have partied on bourbon.

lunch: mothers mothers any poboy here is great and its been on travel channel.

jonnies poboys: its going to be right next to the historic french market inn, this place is open for lunch and breakfast. Its not as well known as mothers but it delivers great food and huge portions.

landrys seafood if you want some seafood id suggest landrys

antoines this is more upscale dinning but if you can grind hard enough id get a meal here.

bars in nola: its hard to go wrong with any bar in new orleans as long as you stay on the non blackbear side of bourbon. you will know when you are near the ole miss section by the rainbows.

anyways id suggest a stop at the legendary Pat O'brians for a hurricane, followed by a walk to the original tropical isle for a hand grenade. Tropical isle will have live music.

a small hole in the wall piano bar can be found near pat obrians almost across the street from it and its called my bar at entertainment 694

also good to check out any bar that is offering 3 for 1 shots and such.

attractions outside of the bars for during the day:
my top one is the dday museum with the 4d movie from tom hanks. its fairly cheap and for the grinders in school a school id gets you a even cheaper ticket.

if you stay in the quarter you can take a street car to the zoo. The zoo serves beer and is pretty funny and then ride back and go check out the aquarium.

ill update this if the art museum is awesome since im going check it out this friday.

The best deal for hotels in NOLA are the high rises on Canal. You can usually book one for 75-100 bucks, it's in the middle of everything, and they're 4 star quality.

also, Penthouse is the best strip club in the city

and if you're 21 or under I suggest you take a cap Uptown around Tulane to go out. everything is in walking distance and Tulane kids know how to throw down.

The grinds in Baton Rouge: hotels in baton rouge can be found on siegan lane these are in a good area and fairly easy access to LSU, blue bonnet also has a few including a brand new one so its another good location.

other hotels in baton rouge is a marriot by college drive and then a few down town.

places to eat in baton rouge:
sadly we dont have a good place like cafe du monde for breakfast. so the best you can do is really waffle house. we do have a place called franks but neither are going to be easy to get too for those not from here.

lunch/dinner in baton rouge. Avoid walk ons, its got a nice location but the food is dog shite other than cheese fries.

right off of campus on highland road is a place called the chimes. it will be packed but chimes has great food.

closer to those staying on bluebonnet if you take bluebonnet to highland you will find a georges and a sammies on the way toward campus. both have good burgers and fries.

also for those that stay near bluebonnet you can eat at a place called brewbachers once again a good burger.

also on bluebonnet you will find a cajun place called boutins this is pretty authentic cajun food. its alot of corn base things.

seafood in baton rouge: mike andersons will be a common place brought up. it has alright food but its really living off its name imo but id still go to it. its located on college drive close to campus.

dons seafood i enjoy dons, its going to be an out of the way drive for those staying in baton rouge but its a good place.

drusilla seafood not far from those that stay on bluebonnet or at casa hbg.

pizza place that HBG recommends is: pastime they have 2 locations one downtown and the other on drusilla. both have the same things and the pizza is the best in the city imo.

bars in baton rouge: walk ons is on campus, the chimes serves as a nice bar as well.

downtown has really picked up as of late for grinders of all ages.

3rd street is the place to be in downtown baton rogue. easy cheap parking and you can walk to any bar.
Happys

reaux house are across the street from one another drinks arent cheap at either one but they do have live music and patios so very enjoyable.

boudreaux and thibodeauxs live music and good drink prices. usually no cover here or at happies.

I will be tailgating with my fiancee with her law school buddies. She is a State grad, so we will be the ones in maroon with a bunch of angry lawyers around us.
