However, I want to pit you guys a question. What would you guys need to see out of Van Gorder to give him the nod? I know a lot of you discount his personality to give him a chance in hell at becoming a head coach, but some of the better coaches in football, in any league, aren't exactly personable.

My only thing with him is that I'd rather not go down the same road of hiring someone with a less-than-respectable prior HC record again. That's kinda what got us into this mess to begin with (well, sorta).

Muschamp isn't coming back to Auburn. He would only ever consider it if Jacobs were gone and his pastor took over at AD. The Gruden, Carroll, Cowher talk needs to stop too. It just makes us look retarded.

To me, Muschamp/Gruden/Carroll stuff was just pipe dream banter, but the thing about that is, who's out there that's doing well and that we honestly have a realistic shot of hiring?

That's what worries me about canning Chizik this season. If we get rid of him now, we very well could put ourselves in a worse position than we started in if we make the wrong hire at the wrong time.

We'll be fighting Arkansas, and possibly Tennessee for head coaches, and unless we clean house in the AD, I can't imagine anyone taking the AU job over one of those two. It's clear that we have too many people involved that have no business doing so, and until that changes I don't see how anyone can view this as an attractive job.

Agreed. We need to change the AD first and let them bring in their people after that. A good proven AD is the first step.
