Nah open them up but moderate them more strictly. If LSU is playing A&M or something I would live to go to their board and talk about the game in a non homerish way like you'd see on the SECr with the flaming and such

Why can't you do that on the SEC Rant? If you don't want to deal with flames, then start a serious topic or don't respond to the flames that do come your way. What's great about the SEC Rant is that there is a good mixture of serious discussion and flaming/banter/goofing off. I don't want to have to visit every team board to see the "serious" topics and then the SEC Rant gets all the leftover bullshite threads.

I think the current setup is almost perfect with team boards being restricted to fans and invited guests. However, becoming an invited guest should be a little easier, like each board should have a sticky with the names of admins and their email so they can be contacted directly to request access instead of having to search for who decides who gets access and starting threads about it on the Rant or help board.

The other thing I believe leaving the boards private will accomplish is that it will cause the SECr to continue to be the melting pot of all fans. Whereas if the team boards were made open to all fans, questions and discussion between SEC fans would happen on team boards, not the SECr. So for the well being of the SECr, leave the team boards private
