He's shown flashes in practice, but it's hard to translate those to the game if your...on..the..sideline. Not every reciever will be open every play. Even the veteran recievers are open all the time, they may think they are but sometimes they can be wrong. If you put DGB out there for say 5 plays a game, that doesn't give him much of a chance to work on getting open. It still comes down to numbers. I think at the beginning of the year they said they would bring him along slowly anyways. Sounds like they're sticking to the plan.
I beleive I seen him open in the endzone last weekend but the ball went about 5 foot over his head. He's tall, but he aint that tall. The throw was late in my opinion. Franklin's timing is in the toilet right now for whatever reason. He plain missed him.
Just for the sake of showing other recruits this is a place where you can come and get on the field quickly, they need to get this kid in the fold however they do it. I remember someone mentioning that other schools would use this agianst Mizzou to get recruits and it makes sense.

DGB was out there for 27 of 58 plays vs USCe. I remember at least 3 or 4 times the play appeared to be designed for him. Either the throw was off or he was covered.
