The Helmet Rule

Just thought about a couple of consequences to this rule. I thought this rule was one of the worst rules to come out since the excessive celebration rule.
One of the situation I would love to see is a coach taking advantage of this rule with a hurry up offense. Players intentionally pulling off helmets to slow down offensive play. I have seen this but I would love to see it all game long and then have the coach come out admit to that strategy and throw it in the ncaa face. Chances of that happening are very slim but it would still be great to see.
Also I believe this rule does more harm than good because of what I stated above. I believe there will be more helmets that come off by the end of this season then every before. I strongly believe this rule will back fire on the NCAA and should be interesting on how they defend it when those stats are released.
One of the main problems I have with this rule is taking the player out of the game. However, If another player is caught grabbing at the helmit he stays in. It is a completely unbalanced rule that affects play on the field.

helmet; derived from the latin word headmitt, meaning to cover or cushion from impact.

I'm sorry I just don't see this as an issue. I got so sick of seeing helmets coming off every other play simply because players wear them too loose and not buckle everything.
This year the helmets coming off has gone down and I have seen coaches getting on to players about it. I think it's an awesome rule.
Buckle up and shite won't fall off. If it gets pulled off illegally it will be seen and won't be punished for it.

I have seen more helmet's come off this year myself. Most of the time its being pulled off by other players. It should be interesting to see what those stats look like at the end of the year. I hope someone is keeping track of them.

Dead ball PF....15 yds and an automatic 1st down and the player stays in the game. Yep, that's a great strategy and sure to slow down the hurry up offense.

This. The intentions for making the rule are good. The rule is designed to protect the players by making sure that their helmets fit and are worn properly.
It sucks that players can take advantage of this rule by pulling another players helmet off, forcing them to come out of the game.
Although I think the intentions of the rule are good, I think that something needs to be added to the rule about penalizing players that pull other players helmets off.

This has been going on for a while, there is just more attention on it.

I like the rule, tired of seeing helmets flying all over the field. Cut your dreds, size it right, buckle it up and it won't usually just fall off.
Keep them out for the whole series if their helmet comes off and i bet you wont see as many come off as you do now.
