Tuscaloosa was the state capital from 1826-1846, so I assume the ruins were built sometime around then.

I want to say they re-furbished the ruins 15 or so years ago. Growing up, we used to go to Capitol Park all the time, and I don't remember the front columns being there. It was basically just the foundation and that one wall, and some column remains behind the wall. My memory may be off though. This was 30 years ago.

Even cooler was the old jailhouse that is across the street. I read recently the city wants to destroy it, which would be a travesty.
