Go to Ol' Colony. Rated the best public golf course in Alabama, and recently hosted a men's NCAA regional. Very beautiful and challenging.
I haven't played the others unfortunately. I hear Indian Hills is good though.

Tuscaloosa is getting "The Barre Code" downtown. The retail boom continues

Got some good shows coming to Druid City Hall too. MuscadineBloodline was sold out last night. CBDB of course dropped by not too long ago.
Probably going to go see the Vegabonds. Heard they put on a nice show.

I know this isn't about Tuscaloosa, but Montgomery is finally getting a brewery this fall.

Yeah I heard. Should be good. They've done a nice job of revitalizing downtown. Wish the damn crime would get fixed.

Brass Tap at Midtown Village set to open soon. Lofts on 4th and 22nd just broke ground.

I heard Post Office Pies shut down. That came as a shock to me. Can anyone confirm or know why?

Confirmed, according to Google. No idea why. I ate there twice, and both times it was pretty busy. The one in Birmingham is always packed, and is always mentioned as one of the best pizzas in town.

If it did shutdown it is probably because they weren't doing so well. There is a good bit of competition food wise in that area. You also had two other pizza places that they were competing with directly in Mellow Mushroom, Pieology and Heat Pizza Bar. Tough market

Along with the competition, it took them a bit to get their Alcoholic Beverage License. I hope they reopen somewhere. Their pizza was awesome.

They put a lot of money/work into renovating that location before moving in. If they closed down, I would not expect another location somewhere else in Tuscaloosa.
I need to check out Heat. I've heard good things.

If so, that is just baffling. I don't live in Tuscaloosa though, so not in tune with the restaurant scene dynamics. Both times I went there though, it was busy, though once was on a game day. But it was easily the best pizza I'd had in Tuscaloosa since Bama Bino was king of the scene in the 80's.
Mellow Mushroom is meh, but long established and recognizable. Plus a prime location. Pieology is trash. Nasty, nasty pizza. Never been to Heat.

Tuts on the strip is under new management. They are staying open later Thur - Sat. They are revamping their menus a little too. The same guys that own Auntie Annies in the mall and Tropical Smoothie bought back in January.

That Philly Cheese tho...

They've actually made it better. They use a true cheese steak roll, stream the buns on the grill and have a cheese wiz option.

That Philly is the best shite ever. They also order their buns from Philly. I haven't had cheese wiz on it yet.

Pyros if you get fresh mozzarella is so much better as to not be funny. And way cheaper.
Anyplace that has fresh mozzarella is likely better than every place that doesn't.
