I don't think it nearly matches the level of A&M stepping out of Texas's shadow, particularly with regard to recruiting that in-state talent you guys have, but there are definitely similarities.
In the past, Missouri has had trouble locking down top in-state talent and maintaining the focus of KC and STL due to the abundance of pro teams. There has already been a notable shift - both in locking up the state recruiting and the record number of season tickets sold + stadium expansion plans.
I think longterm it gives Missouri a big leg up over nearby old rivals (kU, Kansas State, Iowa State and even Nebraska) because like A&M, we now have the allure of SEC football while most neighboring programs have the Big 12 and an uncertain future to offer.
