On the topic of Auburn's pharmacy school showing preference to Auburn undergrad students - this is completely untrue. Anyone that makes this claim either A. doesn't know what they're talking about or B. Has some grudge against Harrison School of pharmacy b/c they (or someone they know) didn't get in and is all upset about it (or, butthurt in SECrant language).
As far as DO vs MD - Several people have brought up the scenario of one or the other performing a major surgery. Only ignorance would cause someone to think there would be a major difference between the two individuals if they both went through the same internship, residency, and fellowship.
I have close friends that entered med school at UAB the same year i entered vet school. We kept up with each other and had a lot of conversations comparing our curriculum throughout the years. Most were smart as can be. A couple of them I would never trust to operate on me yet they are SoandSo, MD today. Take that however you want it but, for me, MD does not equal automatic superiority.

Agreed. Like anywhere, it might matter just a little, but test scores are what get you into every major grad school variety in the nation. It's a rankings driven world right now and standardized scores are about the only thing you can use to rank a school.

You are right! Yes, they go through Allopathic residencies, the same surgical residencies as MD's. They are boarded with 3 part boards, to be certified in their specialty. Most in here don't understand that the finished product are indistinguishable when it comes to specialty training.
