While my experience with DO is good overall I have come to the realization that these are the kids that lacked the connections and political clout to be accepted at a lot of the medical schools in the country. Typical medical schools are the last to hang on to the GOB network of admissions. Most admissions at UMMC are "connected" kids, kids of UMMC MDs, politically connected kids and your typical terrorist subplotter types. DOs usually didn't go to the right prestigous prep schools or belong to all the undergrad organizations to have their applications accepted.

No. It's the ones who did not score high enough on the MCAT. Like any grad school, it's all about the test score. I challenge you to find me a kid with a 36 on the MCAT who had to go to DO school because he did not have connected parents.
