Usually I disagree with about all you say, gotta go ahead and preface this, but this time I completely agree. I think Murray is a good QB but with such a mediocre run game and OL he's really being asked to carry the offense. I think if this team were more balanced he'd flourish but right now he's doing pretty good with a good many areas that could stand improvement

Yea he is being asked to play the role of an Oklahoma gunslinger but his skill set does not match that.

The East is going to be very interesting to watch this year. UGA, UT, UF, Mizzou, and USCe should all be better teams than they were last year and UT and UF have the potential to vastly improve their record. It should be a very offense heavy division that could be a lot more competitive than people realize.

This might be the best group of QB's the SEC has had in 20 years. Wilson, Bray, McCarron, Murray, Shaw, Franklin, and possibly Mettenburger are all going to be in the top 25 or so QB's in the nation.

WC I enjoyed your thread...very well thought out and you tried to use examples to state your case which is good...Im a stat guy.

I will let you know what I honestly think of Murray...as a player not as a rival (oh ok...you know the urge is there)

He is a party animal...went to Plant High School in Tampa (born and raised there)...its old money and the kids there tend to be a little spoiled compared to other urban schools. Its ok to party, but thats what happened to another qb that UGA had in the 2006-08 era...it was party city and all over the social media. You wont see our qbs doing that....or most SEC schools.

Murray is a smidgen under 6 foot and is short for qb...and yes I know Brees is the same stature, but he does have tendency to throw picks under pressure (as do most qbs)...his hands are small and that has transended into fumbles. He suffers from lack of solid run game the past few years and actually has been directly affected by the lack of pass rush pick up by a certain rb no longer on your team (watch the fumble against Boise and who whiffed).

Ive listed the shortcomings...but here are the attributes: he is extremely accurate as a passer and anticipates wrs coming open well considering he has only played as an underclassmen so far. I think the team respects him and that will be more evident this year now that he is a r/s junior. He does try to win games with his arm and thats good/bad...but when the run game isnt allowing third downs and short yardage..it forces him to try to move chains a lot.

He has fairly good mobility to avoid sacks, when you look at meager rushing attack...thats even more important and impressive....since pass rush is usually being felt early & often.

Murray would be better fit at another school. I dont know how much he considered UF since we had Tebow and the spread..plus coaching questions. Its not helped him to be under Richts wing imho. He needs a strict discipline and a boot in the rear at times...not just a hug from Richt. With a solid run game he would flourish imho. BTW he will probably have 95% chance of staying at UGA for his sr year since the pros are hung up with measureables, height/.weight etc etc...but he could be successful at the next level.
