"If he had a better situation at Miami"?? He took the job only because he was given complete control over the whole team; check book included. Or are you saying he would have done better with the Pats or Pack? And don't forget, he blamed the team doctor for the Fins not taking Brees, when, in fact, he had complete & final sayso over everything to do with the team. A great coach? Certainly. But do not make him out to be a god: he lost to ULLLLM & lost too many last play of the game type games as well. If I am recalling this correctly, his record in games decided by 7 points or less is a losing one? In which case, those are the games that coaching is supposed to decide the winner more often than not.

I'm not but even with total control, you don't have control over free agency and salary cap. Unfortunately its coming down to how good your GM is much more so than in the past as the GM better be a financial whiz.

Losing closing games is worse than getting whipped??
Interesting logic.

His W-L record is great, that is the most important thing.

Exactly. No one ever calls out his flaws. All you Bama fans say," Saban made LSU." while he did bring us to an elite level, he lost 3 games a year , except once. In 2010, he ha the entire 2011 defense, a first round rb, wr, de, and a senior qb whom ha already won a title, AND HE LOST 3 games ( all to teams with LESS talent) and no one wee brings it up. He is a great defensive coach and recruiter but his biggest flaw is thy once he gets a lead, he calls off the dogs and it's. Come back to bite him more than once and has ALMOST cost him numerous times.
