I'm midway the third book in the series and decided to do this since I thought it was funny. All in good fun so don't take the negative things I say too seriously. Hope yall enjoy.
1) Alabama- House Lannister: Bama has been a continual powerhouse within the conference and tend to constantly remind their opponents of their proud history and power. Recently usurping House Louisiana over what they felt was their rightful ruling, they also have had false bastard children that were supposedly apart of Louisiana, but it was obvious to everyone but them that they were never a part of them and merely used their Louisiana status as a launching point for a more powerful career. They have also been known to frick their own brothers and sisters and they put their name to a much higher than than sane level than the most the other houses, going to massive lengths to maintain it. They tend to take loses far more poorly than any other house and constantly beat their significant others as retribution when they lose in battle. They also worship the supposed founder of their house, Bear the Clever, far more than any other university.
2) Auburn- House Tully: Like the Tullys, Auburn has never really ruled their lands as kings, and have been constantly and usually pretty easily had their legacies overtaken by their neighbors. The Tullys also tend to have Auburn hair which makes it all the more appropriate
3) Arkansas- House Greyjoy: Arkansas fans completely live in the past and what could have been. Once kings of the Drowned Conference, they have yet to move on beyond this mentally, despite the fact that the vast majority of the fanbase was not alive to see this. They constantly try to declare themselves kings and claim that they are better than they really are. While they are successful at raids of some of the other houses, the big houses will come in pretty quickly and make them shut their trap pretty instantly. They also hold a grudge past the point of sanity, even if they themselves are responsible for starting and ending the grudge. Sure they may take a house occasionally, but they soon come to realize that they're fricked before their glory even started. Definitively live by the quote "What is Dead May Never Die".
4) Florida- The Dothraki: Florida is a fearsome force when they come together. They are feared just about every year, but the fact of the matter is if they don't have good leadership or chemistry, then they aren't as much of a threat. If they truly come together, then they may become the most feared force in all the conference. They also tend to partake in many weird fashion choices than pretty much any other fanbase.
5) Georgia- House Stark: A very much respected and old house, House Georgia you come to respect simply from reputation. The blood of the very first men in this country flow through this university. Their leader is a very much respected man and seen largely as honorable, despite maybe a few obvious flaws. Recently this university has been in a world of shite and nothing has really been going their way, despite the fact it should, due to their university's age, reputation, and vast amount of land and influence. It does seem to be just a matter of time before they rise once more.
6) Kentucky- The Night's Watch: Kentucky leads us gloriously in basketball and doesn't partake prominently in many football battles. They make our conference proud with their service and records, but while they're respected, no one really truly gives a shite about what they're doing. The wars here are in football, not basketball. Granted they valiently fight our basketball brothers to the north, but who cares with the excitement and true stakes that football provides?
7) LSU- House Baratheon: LSU is barely a decade old into true success, and they now look at themselves now as the true power within the conference. They are renowned for their ferocity in battle and swift deaths to many of their foes. However this is the house of incredible affliction and betrayal. The true king they thought they were serving turned out to be the inbred child of House Bama, and try tend to turn on their leaders and demanding their head on a stake with any given mood swing. They are quick to temper and renowned for drinking and enjoying throwing piss bombs at others. Their fortress at Valley's Death is renowned for being particularly impenetrable, and their rivalry with House Bama is recent but has become the rivalry ripping the conference apart.
8) Mississippi State- House Bolton: This university has little respect, history, or well liked. They claim themselves as ruling the State, when their true big brothers are just down for a while, but they will be back with a vengeance to put this fanbase back in its rightful place. They are quick to troll others and boast of their unachieved greatness, but they are absolutely no match for any of the other great houses. They are also severely fond of flaying their enemies all over their territory whenever they have the opportunity.
9) Missouri- The Wildlings: Seriously, who the frick do you think you are? You come down over the Mason-Dixie Wall and demand we accept you? I don't know shite about you, and I have no desire to find out. That wall was built for a reason, and it was to keep you northern bastards out!
10) Ole Miss- House Tyrell: God damn is Ole Miss filled with beautiful and rich people. Yes they tend to think themselves better than other houses and constantly show their beauty and wealth to all. They are enamored with tradition and take take their culture extremely seriously. Granted though, despite seeing themselves as incredibly rich and powerful, they've been at the losing end of things more times than they care to admit. Way more really. But they do win battles they arent supposed to, even if they almost always lose the war. Ole Miss fans love festivities and themselves, and they tend to get the most flamboyant and ridiculous uniforms out of all the other houses. This makes them the butt of the joke of many houses, but they still will let their charm and wit get the better of you.
11) South Carolina- House Frey: A house with no respect, but is regardless a house not to be underestimated. Ruled by the Late Walder Spurrier, he's old, ruthless, proud, and simply refuses to leave or die. House Carolina usually sits out wars until the end and see if they themselves can manage to get a bigger slice and win the war for themselves.
12) Tennessee- House Targaryen: Once this house was a ruler of the conference and a house to be greatly feared. They made all the other houses take the knee, and were able to destroy anyone in their path. Not anymore though. After generations of inbreeding, the Mad King Kiffin came forth and proposed many insane things, and that made the other houses rebel against him, leading to this house's demise. They are a mere joke and a shell of what they once were. Yet hope does remain. It will be a while before they amass an army to retake the conference. Sure the other houses continue to laugh at them, but you would be a fool to underestimate them.
13) Texas A&M- House Martell: The most isolated and ignored of the conference, they were also among the last of the great houses to join it. Rumors of some of their sexuality are dubious and ill defined for the other Houses. They are based in the plains and basic desert and it is best that no one pay much heed to them since they're not a threat to anyone. Hopefully they won't take advantage of being completely ignored by the other Houses.
14) Vanderbilt- House Arryn: House Vanderbelt has long stopped really giving a shite about the war. They see themselves as impregnable through their education. They tend to harbor people who are cunning . However they tend to completely avoid the main conflict of the other houses at all cost.
Which fanbase would that be? Only other one I can think of is USC. If you're thinking of Penn State, I'd go with House Clegane.

Pretty sure this is Germans

I made it up, so I don't see how it is. Seen lists that do specific characters, but not entire houses.

Coulda sworn I saw someone do this about a month ago but if not carry on. I see this probably took a considerable amount of time so

I knew we were going to be House Lannister before opening the thread. I wouldn't equate house stark with UGA though. Maybe Auburn, or Arkansas.

House Stark was the hardest one for me to cast. In the end I went with Georgia due to their age, respect, the fact that their results are lower than their expectations, and the respect and honor their leader has despite the fact he hasn't produced great results.
Auburn just kind of felt like they'd be Tullys to me, and the result I'm most confident in is that Arkansas is House Greyjoy. I think they completely embody it. The only part I had problem casting was their "Iron Price".

You're right. Just searched it and NIH did it. But he only did the SEC West while I did both (plus Texas A&M although I half assed that one). He's probably going to get pissed that I cast his university as Bolton. At least we both completely see eye-to-eye that Ole Miss is completely House Tyrell.

A&M is House Martell. It's even hot and dry there in Dorne.
Pretty good description of the Big XII
Sounds like Texas - the semi-sovereign and most fiercely independent state.
The Lannisters of the Big XII are the University of Texas, the Free Cities are the SEC.
Look, I don't know what SCAR is in Game of Thrones, that's up to you to get right, but A&M is House Martell.
quote:
House Martell's founding is unknown, except that they were one of the ruling families of Dorne which, since the Andal Invasion had been a collection of feuding petty kingdoms even as the other regions of Westeros began to consolidate into larger realms.
Pretty good description of the Big XII
quote:
As Aegon the Conqueror waged his Wars of Conquest, he eventually came to Dorne. Here his army was bled dry by guerrilla warfare in the desert, a situation in which his dragons were of little use. Deciding that conquering Dorne would be too costly, the Conqueror opted to leave the Martells as sovereign princes.
Sounds like Texas - the semi-sovereign and most fiercely independent state.
quote:
Though House Martell swore fealty to King Robert Baratheon after the war, they have harbored anger and resentment towards the Lannisters ever since (now even higher in power due to Cersei's queenhood) and have adopted a mostly isolationist policy ever since, not mixing with the other great houses unless totally necessary, preferring to deal with the Free Cities.

Starting to agree with you, but what does that make SC? Seriously, does anyone have any reccomedations. I'm at loss for what house they have anything in common with.

SC's most well-known feature is that they're amazingly loyal for having never accomplished anything. In that way they're like A&M, but, Dorne is more like Texas than SC, even though SC does have a great deal of state pride. I don't know, it's been a couple of years since I read the books - is there a house we haven't used yet that fits the bill of perpetually downtrodden but proud? A Spurrier-like iconic leader with a smart mouth? Maybe that's the better angle to go down?
