I hate when someone uses this excuse. It's a huge cliche.
"we lost because the other team thought the game was more important than our players did"
That makes your own players look worse than they did before when everyone thought they were outplayed.

I mean, Clemson was at home against the defending national champs on a huge win streak, and had a huge chip on their shoulder from losing a close game the previous year to that team. It was just a little added motivation.
