But seriously, A&M just needs to realize that they are culturally the odd man out in the conference. Having been born in Houston and raised in Louisiana, the cultural differences between the legitimate south (Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, etc) and Texas are pretty big and you'll probably get made fun of for it.
Yeah, your state votes conservative, loves football and country music, awesome. That's about all we have in common. No one jacks off to Pat Green, Casey Donahew and Aaron Watson in Tuscaloosa or Oxford. And if you asked for kolaches in Knoxville or Athens, you'll probably get looked at funny.
Bottom line, your patriotism to your state and country is probably unmatched in the SEC considering your school's history. Unfortunately on Saturdays in the true South, it's Bama vs Arkie or Florida vs Georgia, and outside of the national anthem, everyone will be too busy getting drunk and fricking with you guys to care about taking their hat off in the student union or not walking on a lawn.
Where to begin?

You are right. We don't kill trees, smell like corn dogs, ring the most annoying bells in the history of bells, worship a dog (oh wait, thats us too. cheers UGA), revere the bear (damn, that too), have a military tradition like the Old War Skule (Wait, that's us too...), fight in the confederacy (awwwwww shite, did that too), or have ANYTHING else in common with other southern schools/states.

You mean.... Georgians don't make fun of Florida? Bama doesn't make fun of AU? I didn't realize.

Refresh my memory: what exactly do Louisiana and South Carolina have in common that Texas (specifically East Texas, where a large portion of A&M's support comes from) does not? Houston is nicknamed "The Bayou City", for Buffalo Bayou, thw waterway that feeds into the Houston Ship Channel. In addition, Houston is a huge base for LSU and A&M (whit some arky too).

Thanks for the compliment. Other than that, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Aggies/Texans don't get drunk? We don't also tear up at FDWL? We didn't shed blood at 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Gettysburg, the Knoxville Campaign, and many others?
A&M has been trying for 20+ years to join the SEC. We finally came home.

Kolaches are the fricking bomb
Also they have them in Mississippi (in Pascagoula at Crazy B's and in Oxford at Shipley's)

Living in AL, I agree with this statement for the most part. Texas as a whole is more southwest IMO than southern with its Hispanic and growing multiethnic roots.
However- did I miss something ? Are Aggies trying to convince the SEC they are deep south?? Who cares if it's different....same with Mizzou.
The homoerotic corps jokes are low hanging fruit (no pun intended). The "novelty" of this phenomenon will wane with familiarity though.
