Ranking the SEC schools by academics--US News list

If I am applying for a nice job in a high rise in New York, LA, Chicago, etc., the only SEC school that will make anyone care is Vandy. After that it is a bunch of state schools where the difference in the #50 ranking and the #150 ranking means jack shite.

When it comes to public schools, there are very few where an undergrad degree is seen as prestigious. Cal, Michigan, UVA, and thats about it except for certain degrees at certain places like engineering at GaTech.

Depends on the degree.
LSU's Vet School, Pet.Eng. and Landscape Architecture programs do not take a back seat to any university's in the world, all ranked #1 currently or in recent past.
LSU also has a brand new Hurricane Engineering curriculum that is unique.

Cool. Well if I have a mid life crisis in a few years and decide I want to semen test bulls, drill for oil, build a golf course, or be a hurricane engineer (whatever the F that is), I will certainly consider LSU.
