Why is Saban even better at Bama than he was at LSU?

He rebuilt LSU's program. He didn't have to rebuild Bama's.

Worm diarrhea.

(1) How in the hell can you "rebuild a program" that 2 years before had just finished a 3 straight year streak of 27 wins, 3 consecutive bowl games, 3 consecutive bowl victories, and 2 national rankings ???

(2) LSU had numerous players from the '98-'99 losing seasons drafted by the NFL.

(3) Many of Dinardo's players from the '98 and '99 losing seasons started and/or played significant roles in Saban's Peach bowl team of 2000 and his SEC Champ Sugar Bowl team of 2001.
There were even a few on his NC team of '03.

(4) And what happened in 2002 ? Saban's LSU team was routed and lost BADLY TO FOUR teams: Va.Tech, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas; as well as an embarrassing 2-Hail Mary pass loss to Arkansas in the final 30 seconds.....

(5) If he didn't have to rebuild Bama's program, how in hell did he lose to Louisiana-Monroe ???

I tend to think that Shula did a slightly better than average job at evaluating and signing talent.

However, his staff was weak in technique and discipline. It took well over a year for Saban to root out the slackers and attitude problems. He might not have had as much to "rebuild" but he definitely had to educate the Bama players on "The Process".
