Reason why UK can not have the "bells and whistles" in facilities

Such a MAJOR DISADVANTAGE in the SEC...every facility or new project is paid out of pocket in cash. Great interview of Mitch B. (UK's AD) on why UK can not improve football facilities (and baseball).LINK

Why does it need a rennovation?

Yea, so...the "UK baseball stadium suck" argument is getting old.
UK wants to build new stadium, but can not get state to loan the money for facility improvements.
UL gets their bonding not from the State, but from the city of Louisville. The city of Louisville is pretty much screwed right now with the debt of the Yum Center and having hard time making payments. Corporate money only takes you so far....
UK is not in debt and has great credit record, just can not get bonding due to ties of other state university system pool.

Football? New addition and suites to raise more revenue and compete with the rest of the SEC.
I think it is remarkable that UK competes so well in other sports and we are 2cd in the Capital One Cup Standings and could possible win it if tennis team advances further the UNC.

Too bad you guys can't call Papa

Papa John is one of UK's biggest sponsors...
He didn't build Papa John's Stadium. The city of Louisville did. He didn't contribute as much as the name would have you believe.

Did not know that, how does that work with the UL support

State bonding and private donations.
Majority of donors for UK pump money for basketball. If you are winning, the cash flows...but so many Pilot Gas and Nike top dawgs to give....coal money is not coal money of old.

See my edit.
He didn't have nearly as much to do with the building of the stadium as you might think.

How is it a UL flame? It is a fact...and trying to get ahead "why does UL have better facilities" smack. UL gets everything through the city and corporate donations....Unfornately, city of Lexington does not have revenue stream like Louisville to give money to UK in bonding...Lexington is having hard time with Rupp Arena renovations funding (city runs Rupp Arena).

Since 1996, Papa John’s and John and Annette Schnatter have donated more than $20 million to the University of Louisville, principally in the area of facilities. This includes a $5 million lead gift in 1996 to help fund construction of the university’s football stadium, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
In 1998, an additional $5 million was committed to help fund construction of Cardinal Park, assisting the university in advancing gender equity and Title IX compliance through the construction of soccer, track and softball facilities.
In 2007, Annette and John Schnatter and Papa John’s pledged an additional $10 million to help fund the expansion of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, which was completed in 2010.
I thought more than 20 mil, but I knew he didnt build the stadium himself.
How much have they given to UK?

He donates just about equally to both. I don't know figures. Mike might.

Obviously did not watch video of the explanation from AD...only money loaner is through state and only state. UK part of Kentucky Higher Learning University System...pool of money is distributed to all universities in state.

I have no idea...he is one of the big corporate sponsors for UKAA.

Yea. I don't know who he's "really" a fan of, but one thing is for sure: He can't afford to piss off either side so he does a damn good job of supporting both and not taking sides.
