The right move...I don't think it will affect wins/losses. Hire a new coach with new staff/offense or keep what you have in place with an interim. No difference.
This will affect recruiting. However, it's best to sacrifice one year of recruiting to make sure you get the right hire and not a rush job.

I was worried about the Arkansas game before. Now as long as LSU beats Alabama we'll be in the BCSNCG. The luck of Lester Miles never ceases to amaze me
