I think the big thing a lot of you guys are forgetting is that Petrino has brought in a shite-ton of new money to the university. We are talking millions upon millions, and way more than he actually makes. If we were to fire him, it would literally send us back 10 years. And we probably wouldn't hire someone as good as him the second time.

All of this is going through the people in charge's heads right now, and I have a feeling that they will do whatever they can to deal with this internally if at all possible. If that means spending some money and tarnishing our image for a short period of time then so be it, but they know how big of an impact it will make if they let him go.

Didn't Tressel bring in millions as well?

May not be a great comparison, but still.

they'll lose in the long term

not the first time he's made very questionable decisions

I think he's gone but if the admin keeps him it will come back to haunt them

The university is bigger than Bobby Petrino. This is what happens when you build up people to a larger than life status. Coach worship by Arkansas fans has been at sickening and embarrassing levels. Now you are so worried about the gravy train drying up that you want to risk the integrity of the university because of an already proven POS football coach.

That's pitiful.

You are skipping over the fact that many of those millions will stop coming in if they keep him around. Not everyone is as quick as you to brush this off.
