McDermott is not just a perimeter player, from what I've seen he's surprisingly good in the post. Its not like he jacks up threes all game, he only averages 3 attempts a game. I would think Cooper and Steele (maybe less so Steele because of his strength) would have problems down low with him.

So its a problem either way. I suspect a combination of Jamychal, Cooper and Steele will guard him, but I'd be surprised if we went with one big and four guards for a majority of the game (I was hoping we'd do it against Florida and we didn't). Jacobs and Green will probably be out there together a good bit in which case its gotta be Jamychal.

The problem with pressing and trapping all game is that's an easy way to give up wide open perimeter looks. My guess is we mix it up and we'll probably play some of that zone (if we played it versus a good perimeter shooting team in Florida we'll probably play it against Creighton). Try to keep them off balance.

My guess is that Levi starts out on him. Every time he posts up JaMychal comes to help. JaMychal could guard him but he would be in foul trouble in the first five minutes.

McDermott is not an incredible athlete but he is a great basketball player. He is solid fundamentally, shoots well and is strong with the ball. He only takes good shots, uses the board and ball fakes, but he is more Larry Bird than Dominque Wilkins. Our two 7 footers are going to have to bring it in this game. Creighton has a 6'11" center so Bama will require some quality minutes from its twin towers.

Jayhawks have shooters so you can't double from the perimeter players. This is why McDermott is so lethal.
