I agree with your entire post for the most part. MA's ability to recruit and then DEVELOP that talent is why I happen to think we will be looking for another HC in 4 years.

Too bad he'll have a Show Cause slapped on him by the NCAA before he gets that chance to step up to Arkansas. The Nevin Shapiro stuff at Miami will eventually catch up to his shady azz.

Player development in NCAA basketball is really not the issue. For the most part, you need to pick them up as Freshmen on Day 1 with the talent to dominate. Because of the AAU system, that's much more possible in hoops.
Give me a list of players who developed their skill sets considerably under Nolan from Day 1 to the day they left. I love Nolan, but I can't think of too many. Now...did they gain an understanding of the traps and the defense over time? Yes they did. But as for developing their skill sets, Nolan didn't really do that either. The key - and not just at Arkansas in the 40 minutes of hell scheme - is to get the top talent. Better players win more than inferior players. Regardless of the coach. Regardless of the system. Like Larry Johnson told Nolan...we better get us some men.

Yes, that is what I so long for LSU fan. I'm sure respectability with an occasional good year would settle just fine with you if we were talking about Miles and LSU football. GFY.
that's what he did at Missouri - if Arkansas fans didn't want this they shouldn't have hired him

You're an LSU fan so I'll forgive you're lack of reading comprehension. If I could sign it for you in your hand a la Helen Keller I would.

NOT
WANT
TO
HIRE

You mean homerville? The MA love is even more nauseating over there than it is here, I like it here fine.

Then man up and stop whining like a three year old about a coach that's only been here one year. Your schtick is just as bad as those on hogville.

Year one, year 5. The song will remain the same.

Serious questions: Do you hope this is the case, or would you prefer that MA find success here? Or is it so important that you were "right" in opposing his hire that you would take pleasure in the Hogs failing?
I know that by Year 3, I felt Pelphrey would never get it done, and we needed to fire him, and I stated that publicly. However, I desperately hoped I was wrong and he would have a breakthrough and we would not have to make another hire for a long time.

Seriously dude? I hate to break it to you, but it's 2012. That banner that you cling so tightly to is getting a little dusty. Arky is no where near the "step up" from Mizzou. Put the parachute pants back in the drawer, brother.

True, its probably just a half step up at this point.

c'mon Chesh.........you don't really believe that.

Let's talk about the ceiling for both programs. Arkansas, as has been demonstrated by multiple Final Fours and a National Championship, has an unlimited ceiling. Going by ALL of history, Misurah has the ceiling of Elite 8.
Arkansas also has facilities, resources and fan base in basketball that Misurah can't touch. the Misurah arena is newer, but smaller. Bud Walton is still one of the premiere on-campus arenas in the nation.
Arkansas is without a doubt a step up from Misurah.

What, are you 12?
Well, Notre Dame USED TO be a National Championship caliber football program. Things change, and "premiere on-campus arenas" don't win ball games (see Duke).
I'll take the trajectory that Mizzou is on, as opposed Arkansas.

Missouri fans think one good regular season in which they still finished behind Kansas makes them a power.
I can't wait for them to return to shite next year.
Enjoy your 1 season boys, better make it count and not bow out in the Sweet 16 or Round of 32.

I hope I'm wrong, because I really don't want to wait ANOTHER 5 years to be relevant again. What I hope, and what I believe in my gut are two very different things.
