Not asking if he was a good coach. Not the issue.
Did Gottfried resign or did he "resign"? ie: forced out.

He was most definately forced out mid-season. There's never been any questions about that.

a dude on the rant is arguing he's a pretty damn good coach and saying gottfried resigned. not that he was fired

We mutually parted ways after he was politely asked to resign. He didn't want to be here anymore than we wanted him here.

Gottfried was fired by Paul Finebaum. Finebaum is the brain of the Updyke nation.

He's a good coach, but he just got too comfortable. In other words, Mark Gottfried had become the Mark Richt of SEC basketball.

He was fired, no question. He was a very good recruiter, but he was a mediocre coach at best. His teams never played defense worth a crap, and his offense was boring and unimaginative(street ball). Very happy to have coach Grant now, although he doesn't seem to be quite as consistently good as a recruiter.
