We are talking longshots here, BUT the point to keep in mind here is that Tennessee has a better record and RPI and SOS by 40 spots each. Iowa has a shot but all Tennessee can do is play spoiler. From CBS:
Iowa: Yep, it can happen. It hasn’t happened. But it can. The loss at Illinois on Sunday was disappointing, but the Hawkeyes (7-9 in the Big Ten) can play their way into the field of 68. If they win their next two and get to the Big Ten final, the selection committee would have to consider them. Reminds me of the 2009-10 Minnesota team I covered, one that upset Purdue and Michigan State in the conference tournament and earned an at-large berth that season.
Tennessee: Cuonzo Martin has the Vols believing in his philosophy of defense first. This team continues to be a spirited group that could be a spoiler in the SEC tournament. The numbers don’t add up in terms of an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, but there’s no reason to dismiss this team as a threat in New Orleans next week.

I hate the B!G for many reasons, but they consistently get BS media bias. They usually get every excuse in the world made for their teams. I'd like this sportswriter to explain why does Iowa (15-14, 7-9) with an RPI of 130 and SOS of 67 have a better shot than Tennessee (16-13, 8-6) who has an RPI of 92 and SOS of 29?
