It was about a three day rumor, before they hired Muschamp. Also, a catalyst for the $18mm buyout. BTW, Petrino requested it.

Neither side confirmed it, but there was a whole lot of smoke that they were talking. So much chatter that Petrino asked Arkansas to up his buyout at that time in order to quash all rumors that he could be leaving. Petrino is Spurrier 2.0 and Florida would have been crazy not to have offered him the job. Petrino runs a tight ship and would not have wanted that information to get out there that he was talking to UF, and UF would not want people to know Petrino rejected them - that's why it never officially came out.

Exactly. Florida didn't go after BP.
