ahh ok.i just scrolled back and saw your map. you'll be fine. you are in the warehouse district. you can take the street car up St. Charles Avenue through the garden district to uptown if you choose to do something different than just being in the warehouse district, CBD or french quarter. Commander's Palace in the garden district is a great restaurant. It is right next to a cemetary. it is a couple blocks off(below) St. Charles Ave.

You could check out Audubon Zoo also Uptown. You can catch a boat ride up the river to the zoo. Visiting Chalmette(Battle of New Orleans) is probably way too far out of your way to go see if you have no wheels. You can check out the WW2 museum and confederate museums. There are not far from where you are staying.
