then why bother having the SEC Championship if it is a rematch of a regular season game?
The conf. is divided into two divisions. All teams within a division play each other. Best team advances to the Championship game. This is a playoff structure. Within a playoff structure, rematches make sense.

The BCS IS NOT a playoff structure. The ONLY goal of the BCS (as it pertains to the MNC) is to increase the LIKLYHOOD that the MNC would be determined on the field of play. This is why a rematch makes ABSOLUTELY ZERO sense within the BCS structure.

If the regular season is supposedly meaningful in terms of getting to the BCS, then why did Nov 5 not matter?
