When did SEC dominance originate?

I think the "official" taking over of CFB began with Florida's drubbing of OSU in the 2006 title game, but I suspect that most SEC fans believe that the SEC has ALWAYS been the countries superior CFB conference.
So, assuming that's true, when did the SEC become the nation's premiere CFB conference, how, and defend your stance.

Year Champion
1933 Bama 7-1-1
1934 Bama 10-0 NC
I'd say when it was formed.

The modern resurgence is probably from Florida's rise in the mid-90s...
Florida Tenn and Georgia were early contributors.
LSU joined the fray with Auburn at the turn of the century.
Shortly after, Florida took a break from licking the SECs arse.
Saban resurrected Bama and Tennessee fell off.

Bama brought respect to Southern football, but it's only been recent times where I would say the SEC has been dominant. I would say Spurrier brought some dominant football to the SEC at Florida. 3 yards and a cloud of dust doesn't usually inspire the opinion of doninance.

I'd say with LSU paying Saban what they did - 1.2 million. that made put him in the top 4 at the time.
after that, a lot of the schools spent the money to get the best coaches there is, including coordinators and trainers.

In the BCS era, it originated with UF's drubbing of OSU.
Remember, UF was supposed to get DESTROYED by OSU in that game...

Yeah, Troy Smith was supposed to dominate the Gator secondary.

Florida destroyed Ohio State in 2006 and since then the SEC hasn't stopped.
And by the looks of it won't stop for a while with LSU going to be dominant in 2012 again and the resurgence of Georgia
Not to mention Saban is still at Bama
