Turner Gil "the right choice" passed "bc of race" was fired from Kansas after going 2-10. Gene Chizik won a national title. Same thing when ND fired tyrone willingham and ?'s of race came up...then he got fired from Washington...
i'm all for more minority coaches in NCAA but people should be reminded of this stuff when they prematurely play the race card on a particular university for its hiring/firing of a coach. it is insulting to the university and it's employees to think they have any agenda outside of the best interest of the program.

I think good thing are in store for Vandy after hiring James Franklin.

Is that how Kentucky landed joker?

Only racists are concerned with race.

No Joke. James Franklin looks to be a great hire. And i dont rule out the Croom hire to have been a really good thing for the SEC as far as breaking down walls, but the media should be held accountable for unfounded implications of racism... even if it is a know loose lipped person like barkley making them.

Remember when all that crap was coming out and now Chizik has a National Championship under his belt and having brought Auburn to 3 straight winning seasons and 3 straigt bowl games and Gill has gotten fired after only 2 years at Kansas and remember a program that had been to back to back BCS bowl games before Gill took over. I hate when a coach is turned down , people holler racism for no other reason than their own agenda. Its not the race , its the coaching abilities and when I saw Vandy play Uconn earlier in the year and didnt fold, I knew that they had made an excellent hire in James Franklin. That guy can flat out coach.

Yea neither Chiz or Gill had accomplished much as coaches but atleast Chiz had coached at Auburn before.

Correct and he knew the SEC mentality where as all Gill knew was the Big 12 or Big 8 when he played and the Univ of Buffalo. No way was he ready to come in and take over a tradition laden SEC school like Auburn and now couldnt even keep the winning tradition going on at Kansas that at least Mangione had started.
