And to think, had Cam Newton been more patient about playing time at UF, Meyer is likely coaching there right now.

Trade messes up my dag'on top 10

lol ! What? Cam was kicked off of the Florida team for stealing laptops.

I don't know that I'd give all the credit to Saban but I think Urban saw the hand writing on the wall. The guy is a good coach but he caught lightning in a bottle with Timmy T.

He saw the handwriting on the wall and got out while the getting was good. The thing that bothers me is that he blatantly used his family as an excuse.

Ohio State will demand that Meyer put a winner on the field year in and year out, just as any team in the SEC. Plus, he will have to worry about beating Michigan every year.

So, like the OP, I am still perplexed as to Meyer's motivations. If Meyer wanted to coach for love of the game, he'd find some MAC school to pitch his tent.

I think it was a combination of being burnt out and his pride would not allow him to take a back seat to Nick Saban after his dream team left.

he left because he was stressed out and his health was starting to suck

I kinda think this is clear to anyone who saw him on the sidelines in 2010

He's coming back now because of pride and/or he doesn't know what to do with himself as a retiree... but I don't think it is going to turn out very well after just one year off

Won't matter much that Urban will be at OSU.Doesn't change the fact that they'll still be recruiting the same players that OSU always does and still get stomped out against the elite SEC schools. He's not that much better a coach than Tressel. He will not have a roster filled with Florida kids at OSU.Will still be primarily Ohio kids with a few souther kids and other midwestern kids. Not a huge difference talent wise than what Tressel has been working with.Still a great hire by OSU but the media will make more out of it than they should. It's not like they're going on a Carroll/USC type run.Ohio St will still be the same as always.Very good, historic program but below the elite SEC schools.
