Here's the flaw in that argument. Yes, everyone (practically) on this board agrees that they are the second best team in the nation. But this board doesn't make a 'consensus', certainy not on the national scene. And that's what matters. There is no definitive, objective PROOF that Bama is the #2 team other than playing us close at their place. Hell, MSU almost did that.

Let's say Stanford and Okie State lose, a scenario that would likely leave Oregon as the PAC-12 champion - let's stack up Bama's argument for a rematch vs. Oregon's in that case. Oregon would be 12-1 and Bama would be 11-1, Oregon would be conference champs and Bama would not, Oregon would have lost to LSU on the road while Bama would have lost at home, Oregon's best win would be on the road against an 11-1 Stanford while Bama's best win would be at home to an 10-2 Arkansas - keep in mind that by then Penn State will probably be 8-4 after a 3 game losing streak.

Besides, people across the nation don't want to see a rematch and they certainly don't want to see an SEC rematch for the title. More to the point, what would happen if Bama DID go? If they lost, then everyone would feel dissatisfied because all LSU had to do was beat a team they'd already beaten on the road while everyone else was shut out. Worse yet, what if they won. They would be 12-1 while LSU was 13-1, and be declared national champions despite the fact that LSU beat them at their place. LSU would in effect have been punished for beating Bama by having to win the SECCG just for the right to face Bama again. We'd have to beat them twice to win the title while they would have only had to go 1-1 against us.

Bama going to the national title game is an absolute worst-case scenario and I'm certain the voters won't allow it to happen.

Edit: Also, while Bama's numbers look very impressive, the fact that the average offense they have faced has been ranked #94 all year long puts some perspective to them I think.

so bama blasts their last 3 opponents, Stan and State lose, LSU DEMOLISHES all the rest of their opponents....then all of a sudden perception changes to "Wow this LSU team is damn near unbeatable and jesus Alabama actually took them to OT" (all of a sudden people will say even though it was at home thats tough to take that amazing team to OT) so the negative of alabama losing that home game in OT could vanish if LSU looks crazy good. Then there will be no way to put OU in with that Tech Loss
